Steampunk and Ceramic Jewelleries

I had been thinking of sharing about this for a few weeks now but I couldn't remember the name of the store, but now that I found the business card the store owner gave me and Sherry kind of reminded me with her mentioning of steampunk yesterday, here it is:

During the trip to Australia last December, my family and I stumbled across this place called AHW Studio while trying to find Pancake On The Rocks (the BEST pancake restaurant like..ever!:) in Sydney. Anyway, it was such a great find, so different from the rest of the cosy little stores in the Rocks that sells scented candles and hand knitted clothes with its industrial designs. The shop was filled with little trinkets here and there, things on sale include steam-punk jewelries, ceramic art tile jewelries, steam-punk pendulum clocks and some other artsy things that I cannot really remember. The shop owner who was so friendly-showing us around the shop and explaining everything to us-told us that the things in the shop were all hand made by his brother! It's super cool! Love his brother!

Basically, this shop ROCKS! It has the best steam-punk jewelries I have ever seen, each one of them look so delicate and timeless, I LOVE THEM<3.

This is one of my favorites!!

And these are not all it have, one other thing I loved a lot was the necklace with a tiny little book (which I can't seem to find on the website), it looks something like this:
(made by AHW Studio)Some of the books can even be opened, and since they are blank, they can be written on.
The visit definitely inspired me a lot, I had never really found jewelries to be very interesting thing before encountering this shop, it opened up my eyes to how much there are in jewelry art. Since then, I started collecting little gears and metal bits from everywhere (since I for some reason, did not buy anything from the shop. It was one of the saddest things from the trip), hoping that I will be able to make my own steam-punk jewelry someday:)

Here's my mum's old watch that I took apart, it was a rare opportunity for me to explore the mechanics of a watch, it was fun. Oh and the gears I found inside were soooo small, so cool.

and a photo of clock hands from an old Seiko clock I found somewhere:

So, if anyone has a opportunity to visit the AHW Studio in the Rocks Market, Sydney, Don't miss the chance, meanwhile, here's the website URL:
go take a look and enjoy!
